How does Neuro Art work?

The same lines on two sheets: on the left they cross at sharp corners, on the right every crossing is rounded.

Neuro Art is based on the idea that the act of drawing itself can influence how the brain works and promote the development of self-awareness, creativity, and personal growth. It combines elements of art, psychology, and therapy and works on different levels:

  • Neurophysiological level: When you practice Neuro Art, the movements of your hand and the drawing of neuro lines stimulate activity in certain parts of the brain. This includes motor areas, perceptual centers, and neural connections. This stimulating effect can help improve brain plasticity, meaning the brain's ability to change and adapt.
  • Creative and expressive level: Neuro Art lets you freely express your thoughts, emotions, and inner experiences through visual art. It helps you express yourself openly, without limits or self-censorship. Creating neuro lines and compositions encourages a free flow of consciousness, revealing new ideas, associations, and perspectives.
  • Therapeutic level: The process of drawing in Neuro Art can have a therapeutic effect. It allows you to express and release emotions and supports self-reflection and making sense of your inner processes. You can gain new insights about yourself, change your way of thinking, and look at problems from a different perspective. This can help relieve stress, improve well-being, and increase self-awareness.

Allow yourself to be open, spontaneous, and free in the process of drawing. The practice of Neuro Art can be a personal exploration, a creative discovery, and a means of self-expression.

It is important to note that there is no right or wrong way to create Neuro Art. The focus is on the process of self-expression and personal exploration, not on achieving a particular artistic result.

The Neuro Art process includes the following steps:

  1. Preparation: Take care of yourself, turn on some pleasant music, light your favorite candle. Prepare a calm and cozy place to work to make the process pleasant and productive.
  2. State of relaxation: Before you start creating Neuro Art, it is important to tune into a state of relaxation. You can use breathing exercises, meditation, or any other methods that help you relax and feel comfortable.
  3. Self-expression: Use Neuro Art to express your thoughts, emotions, and inner experiences. Allow yourself to move your hand freely and create lines that reflect your inner world. Don't worry about artistic perfection or correctness; allow yourself to express yourself openly and without limits.
  4. Self-reflection: This is the process of consciously observing our thoughts, feelings, and actions and exploring our inner experiences. After creating your Neuro Art, take time to reflect and make sense of it. Look at your work and notice what thoughts, emotions, or associations it brings up in you. This will help reveal certain aspects of your psychology and increase self-awareness.
